Hello FBTH Family!
I hope everyone had a spectacular September! As we move into the later months of the year, I would like to take a moment to tell you about September’s donation. For those who don’t know, I have Sickle Cell Disease. I have had this disease since birth, and I will have it for the rest of my life. The form of Sickle Cell Disease that I have is a milder form, but I still have my days of pain and suffering (we all have those days, right?).
The way I get through the tough times is through the support of my family, friends, and groups like SCANJ. SCANJ stands for the Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey. This wonderful organization, led by a beautiful and strong black woman, gives support to individuals and families living with sickle cell through different programs, scholarships, and celebrations. SCANJ taught me how to live in my truth and be proud of who I am as a person living with sickle cell.
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, and I am proud to say that From Brush to Heart donated to the Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey, because we believe the best way to live your life is through the support of your peers. Thank you, SCANJ. We salute you.
